Technical Features
Martensitic stainless steel
The OPINEL blades are made from stainless steel optimized for high corrosion resistance and superior mechanical performance. With a hardness of 55-57 HRC, the steel offers excellent sharpness and abrasion resistance, ideal for regular use. Unlike carbon steel, stainless steel does not require regular maintenance but may be limited in aggressive environments.
Handle
The handle is made of beech, the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles, sourced from French plantations. It is hard, durable, and easy to work with, with a color that ranges from yellow to pink. The handle is varnished for effective protection against dirt and moisture.
Safety Ring
Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is present on all folding knives starting from N°06. Made of stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of a fixed part and a sliding part, allowing the blade to be locked in both open and closed positions for added safety.
