Opinel Viroblock N.4: Small but Ingenious
The Opinel Viroblock N.4 knife is one of the first models created by Joseph Opinel in 1890. This knife is easy to sharpen and offers exceptional cutting performance, making it perfect for sewing, sculpting, modeling, or as a letter opener.
To keep the blade in perfect condition, regular maintenance is required after use, which includes drying and lubricating. For more details, please refer to the article 'Caring for the Blade' on our blog.
Technical Features
- Blade Length: 5 cm
- XC90 Carbon Steel: Opinel's carbon steel is a non-alloy steel with a high carbon content. This allows for excellent hardness from heat treatment, ensuring perfect edge retention, high wear resistance, and easy sharpening. However, it requires precautions for use due to its low resistance to moisture corrosion. Do not leave the knife in humid environments, especially in dishwashers. Clean the blade with an oiled cloth after use and oil it frequently.
- Handle: Made from beech wood, the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles. Sourced from French plantations, it is hard, durable, and easy to work with. Its light color ranges from yellow to pink, with numerous dark streaks. The handle is varnished for effective protection against dirt and moisture.
- Handle Length: 6.6 cm
