Technical Features

• Blade Length: 9 cm
• XC90 Carbon Steel: Opinel's carbon steel is a non-alloy steel with a high carbon content, allowing for excellent hardness from heat treatment, ensuring perfect edge retention, high wear resistance, and easy re-sharpening. However, it requires precautions for use: do not leave the knife in a humid environment, especially in the dishwasher, clean the blade with an oiled cloth after use, and oil it frequently like the joint.
• Handle: Beech is the most commonly used wood for making Opinel handles. Sourced from French plantations, it is hard, durable, and easy to work with. With a uniform appearance, its light color ranges from yellow to pink. It is recognizable by the presence of numerous dark streaks. The handle is varnished to be effectively protected from dirt and moisture.
• Handle Length: 11.82 cm
• Safety Ring: Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is present on all folding knives starting from N°06. Carved from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety in transport).
